The Town of Owego is located in Tiogo County in the state of New York. Owego means “where the valley widens”, referring to its geographic location in the valley by the Susquehanna River. Owego is comprised of several smaller communities, including Apalachin, Hiawatha Island, Campville and several others. There are approximately 20,000 residents in Owego.

If you’re driving through Owego, it looks like the hands of time have been turned back. Many buildings, storefronts and homes look like they’ve been pulled from the fifties and sixties, giving Owego a quaint appearance. Owego was voted the coolest small town in America in 2009.

Owego was particularly hard-hit when Tropical Storm Lee hit in September 2011. Massive amounts of rain caused the Susquehanna River to swell rapidly and overflow its banks, causing widespread flooding to much of Owego.
